From the Washington Examiner: The House Ethics Committee reportedly voted earlier this month to release its ethics report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz after the final votes of this Congress are taken.
The reversal, reported by CNN, represents a stark turnaround from last month when committee members opted not to release the report after Gaetz resigned from Congress. The previous vote not to release the report was made along party lines, meaning some Republicans defected.
The House Ethics Committee reportedly decided, in a secret vote, to release the ethics report on Gaetz , but it won’t be made public until after they leave D.C. and return home for the holidays – which could be as early as Thursday.
Gaetz resigned from Congress after President-Elect Donald Trump first nominated him to serve as Attorney General. He later withdrew his name from being considered, and Trump nominated former Florida AG Pam Bondi.
Gaetz, 42, was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016, then served in U.S. Congress from January 2017 until his resignation in November 2024.
Gaetz responded to the news that the ethics report would be released by posting the following statement on social media Wednesday morning:
The Biden/Garland DOJ spent years reviewing allegations that I committed various crimes.
I was charged with nothing: FULLY EXONERATED. Not even a campaign finance violation. And the people investigating me hated me.
Then, the very “witnesses” DOJ deemed not-credible were assembled by House Ethics to repeat their claims absent any cross-examination or challenge from me or my attorneys. I’ve had no chance to ever confront any accusers. I’ve never been charged. I’ve never been sued.
Instead, House Ethics will reportedly post a report online that I have no opportunity to debate or rebut as a former member of the body.
In my single days, I often sent funds to women I dated – even some I never dated but who asked. I dated several of these women for years. I NEVER had sexual contact with someone under 18. Any claim that I have would be destroyed in court – which is why no such claim was ever made in court.
My 30’s were an era of working very hard – and playing hard too.
It’s embarrassing, though not criminal, that I probably partied, womanized, drank and smoked more than I should have earlier in life. I live a different life now.
But at least I didn’t vote for CR’s that fuck over the country!

Meanwhile, the Ethics Committee is being ripped to shreds, and some are vowing to primary Republicans on the committee for betraying Gaetz.
So now the House panel took a secret vote and they plan to release the Matt Gaetz ethics report?
I will make it my mission for the next two years to do everything I can to help primary any Republican on that ethics committee.
These people are vile.
