From Breitbart: The government funding bill includes a one-year extension of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC), an agency that funds organizations that censor conservative media including Breitbart News.
The provision extending funding for the program is on page 139 of the 1,537-page continuing resolution, which was unveiled Tuesday night just hours before the House will vote on the short-term spending bill.
The Washington Examiner’s Gabe Kaminsky posted on Twitter that the bill “includes a one-year extension on the State Department’s Global Engagement Center — the agency me and Matt Taibbi reported has funded speech suppression efforts and is being sued by the Federalist and Daily Wire.”
The GEC faces lawsuits over its funding of the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), a British group pressuring advertisers to defund right-of-center media outlets in the United States, and NewsGuard, a blacklisting organization that rates the “misinformation” levels of news outlets to target conservatives for censorship.

Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Tex.) warned in an interview on Sunday that the Global Engagement Center was weaponized to hurt the bottom line of conservative news programs and conservative news companies. They put together a list of companies they claimed included ‘disinformation’ and ‘misinformation,’ and then took it to the advertisers, she explained.
“Democrats have championed censoring conservatives for years and the State Department’s Global Engagement Center actively worked to achieve this nefarious goal. I’m looking forward to working with the Trump-Vance Administration to protect free speech for ALL Americans!” Van Duyne announced.

Benjamin Weingarten, an editor for Real Clear Investigations, also blasted the inclusion of funding for the GEC.
“In the dead of night, just before Christmas and the New Year, Congress is trying to extend a key cog of the Censorship-Industrial Complex in the 1,547 page Continuing Resolution monstrosity. It would be absolutely egregious to let the Global Engagement Center live another year,” he wrote.
“Next question: Will anyone in Congress work to strike the section granting the GEC a new lease on life from the Continuing Resolution?” Weingarten added.

Republican lawmakers had vowed they would not vote to re-authorize funding to the Global Engagement Center. Kaminsky addressed this last week:

Mike Benz, a former State Department official who has been sounding the alarm over the GEC, reacted to the news that funding for the GEC is included in the spending bill, when the incoming Trump administration had vowed to eliminate it… and shared a warning.
“In last week’s sub streams, I explained that the fight to end GEC is not over, and I told everyone the exact bureau within the State Department that GEC’s censorship staff and programs will migrate to if GEC is terminated. If we win Matrix 1, we will enter the Matrix 2 arc,” he wrote.
In his video last week, Benz revealed that even if Republicans defund and eliminate the government’s Global Engagement Center, it’s operatives will not just go away, but will try to embed the program into many other departments and programs, including ‘think tank’ organizations.
He warned that it’s going to be a long fight to get rid of the censorship program that is attacking conservative news organizations.

Earlier this month, Benz explained how the Global Engagement Center got started:

Last month, Elon Musk had celebrated that the GEC would be shutting down. But according to Benz, this is a much larger hornets’ nest than Republicans realize.
