From the Daily Mail: The FBI has launched an investigation into mysterious glowing lights that have been spotted over New Jersey for the last few weeks.
Eyewitnesses reported unexplained ‘car-sized’ drones over the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster and the Picatinny Arsenal Military Base in Rockaway, among other locations throughout northern New Jersey.
Video footage revealed the drones featured green and red lights on their wings and multiple eyewitness described them as large as a small car.
However, the flying objects are larger than drones used by hobbyists, raising questions about their proximity to those specific locations.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was first alerted about the strange activity in Morris County, where the military base is located, on November 18, but sights also surfaced in nearby Menham, Chester and Morristown.
The report explains that Northern New Jersey residents are alarmed by the mysterious and unexplained drone flights, which only appear at night and hover in the sky over their homes for hours at a time. Some are speculating whether the objects are drones or UFOs.
Julie Shavalier, a Morris County resident, told reporters, “We’re all completely unnerved. I didn’t sleep last night. When I would get up and look out my window, at 2am, 4am, they were still hovering.”
However, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon told NBC News, “There is no advisable immediate danger to the public at this time.”
According to the report, the FAA announced on November 22 that drone flights are banned over the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster until December 6, and the Picatinny Arsenal Military Base in Rockaway (a U.S. Army research center) until December 26.
The Associated Press confirmed that the FBI is investigating the mysterious sightings in the sky, and have requested that residents share any videos or photos they may have of the flights, along with any other relevant information.
In a news release, the FBI announced:
Since November 18, residents from neighboring counties have reported seeing large drones, sometimes nightly, and for several hours, over Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Morristown, Morris Township, Chester, Randolph, and nearby towns. Local and state police have referred reports to the FBI. Anyone with relevant information are asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit it online at tips.fbi.gov. The FBI noted that witnesses have spotted the cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed wing aircraft.
