President-elect Donald Trump nominated Pam Bondi, a veteran prosecutor and former Florida attorney general, as the Attorney General for his next administration after Matt Gaetz withdrew.

Bondi recently described Trump as a “friend” while speaking at one of his rallies. As a long-time Trump ally who defended him during his first impeachment, Bondi is expected to face smoother Senate confirmation despite the setback of losing Trump’s initial choice.

“Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families,” Trump said in a social media post announcing his choice.

In 2019, Pam Bondi joined Trump’s White House as a legal advisor and defense attorney during his first impeachment, which resulted in his acquittal. She later supported his 2020 legal team, which falsely claimed election fraud. Bondi also served on Trump’s Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission and led the legal branch of the America First Policy Institute. If confirmed as Attorney General, she will oversee the Justice Department’s 115,000 employees and $45 billion budget.

We want to ask you, the reader: do you support Pam Bondi as the replacement AG for Trump? Answer in our poll below and comment your thoughts on the withdrawal of Gaetz.
