From Fox News: A number of large groups of illegal immigrants have been caught at the southern border in recent days, as the number of migrant encounters remains lower than in previous months, but fears persist of a border surge before the Trump administration takes office.

On Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety encountered a group of 154 illegal immigrants in Eagle Pass, Texas. The group included six special interest immigrants from Afghanistan and 20 unaccompanied minors.

They were turned over to Border Patrol, Texas authorities said.

In Arizona, Border Patrol encountered a group of more than 230 illegal immigrants near San Miguel, Arizona. Border Patrol said on Monday the group was “safely transported for processing.”

Texas DPS spokesperson Chris Olivarez announced Monday:

TX Troopers Apprehend Special Interest Group from Afghanistan

11/17: @TxDPS Troopers encountered a group of 154 illegal immigrants from Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, & the Dominican Republic who illegally crossed the Rio Grande between the ports of entry in Eagle Pass, TX.

The group included 6 special interest immigrants from Afghanistan & 20 unaccompanied children (15 males & 5 females).

The group was turned over to USBP since they initially crossed on federal land / private land w/o physical barriers due to no landowner consent. #OperationLoneStar

Also on Monday, Chief Patrol Agent Sean McGoffin of the Tucson Sector posted another photo and announced:

Three Points Station agents encountered a group of 232 migrants from 7 different countries who illegally crossed the border near San Miguel, AZ. The group included single adults, family units, and unaccompanied children. The group was safely transported for processing.

News Nation correspondent Ali Bradley, who reports extensively on illegal immigration, announced Tuesday morning:

Happening now: I met two men from special interest countries in Africa within a group of 100+ that crossed into Eagle Pass this morning—One from Eritrea says he’s going to Indiana and the other—A man from Nigeria tells me he is going to live with his uncle who has been in the U.S. for 13 years (I couldn’t make out the destination).

When I asked him why now, he said because his uncle wanted him to come—I asked why not 13 years ago but he just said he wasn’t around…

This is still happening every day here—The large groups started picking back up in the Del Rio Sector in October and have continued. On Sunday, @TxDPS encountered a group of 154 — Within the group: 6 men were from Afghanistan and 20 unaccompanied minors.

There were 266 unaccompanied minors encountered at the southern border yesterday—66 were in the Del Rio sector alone according to DHS sources.

They’re also coming by boat. Last week, a group of 21 illegal aliens were apprehended one mile off the coast of Newport Beach, California.  Two were from Uzbekistan, one was from Russia, and 18 from Mexico.

And more are on the way…. here’s an update from journalist Auden Cabello:

Caravan Update: It’s been 15 days since the migrant caravan departed Tapachula, Chiapas. Today, the 1,500 migrant caravan arrived in San Pedro Tapanatepec, Oaxaca.

The incoming Trump administration must address the migrants directly. The previous administration’s promise of a “beautiful wall and Mexico will pay for it” proved ineffective and ridiculed.

This time, securing the border and mass deportations have not had a significant impact.

I recently returned from the border. Piedras Negras is experiencing an increase in migrant arrivals. In Acuña, I was approached by a Venezuelan child who was selling Mexican candy. They have no intentions of going back on their own.

The wall is not an obstacle for them. The five barriers in Eagle Pass are not deterring them. They are determined to find one opportunity and will not give up until they succeed.

We will see what the first day of Trump 2.0 looks like, but I believe this issue is not going to be resolved easily or quickly.
