BREAKING: Republicans gain control of the U.S. Senate

UPDATE 11:50 PM ET: BREAKING: Republicans have just flipped the Senate, so far now holding 51 seats.

Polls have already closed in some states Tuesday evening, as Americans now wait to learn who will be the next Commander in Chief, and which party will control the U.S. House and Senate.

Especially in focus are the results that will come from the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and  Wisconsin.

So far, Republicans have flipped TWO seats in the U.S. Senate – West Virginia and Ohio, and now hold 51 seats in the senate.  

Republicans are also expected to win another senate seat in Montana, although that race has not yet been called.

Based on numbers reported by Fox News, if Republicans win one more senate seat, they will have full control of the Senate, flipping the balance of power.

CONNECTICUT: Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy has defeated Republican challenger Matthew Corey.

FLORIDA: Republican Sen. Rick Scott has won his re-election race, defeating Democrat challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.

INDIANA: Republican Sen. Jim Banks has won his re-election race, defeating Democratic opponent Valerie McCray.

MARYLAND: Democrat Angela Alsobrooks has won the Senate seat against Republican Larry Hogan, the former governor of the state.  The two were in a race to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Democrat Sen. Ben Cardin.

MASSACHUSETTS: Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren has won her re-election race against Republican challenger John Deaton.

MINNESOTA: Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar has been announced as the winner against Republican candidate Royce White.

MISSISSIPPI: Republican Sen. Roger Wicker has won re-election, defeating Democrat challenger Ty Pinkins.

MISSOURI: Republican Sen. Josh Hawley has DEFEATED his Democrat challenger Lucas Kunce.

MONTANA: (Results Pending). Republican Tim Sheehy is leading in the race against Democrat Sen. Jon Tester, but the race is too close to call.

 

NEBRASKA: Republican Senator Deb Fischer will defeat independent challenger Dan Osborn.

NEBRASKA: Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts, the former governor of Nebraska, has won a six-year term in the U.S. Senate, defeating Democrat challenger Preston Love.

NEW YORK: Democrat Sen. Kristen Gillibrand has defeated Republican challenger Michael Sapraicone.

NORTH DAKOTA: Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer has won his re-election campaign, defeating Democrat challenger Katrina Christiansen.

OHIO: FLIPPED SEAT: Republican Bernie Moreno has won his U.S. Senate race, defeating Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown.

RHODE ISLAND: Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has defeated Republican challenger Patricia Morgan.

TENNESSEE: Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn has won re-election, defeating Democrat challenger Gloria Johnson in a landslide.

TEXAS: UPDATE: Republican Senator Ted Cruz has won his re-election campaign, defeating his Democrat challenger Colin Allred in what was a heated race.

WEST VIRGINIA – FLIPPED SEAT: Outgoing governor Jim Justice has just won his race for the U.S. Senate, flipping the seat to RED. It is currently occupied by Sen. Joe Manchin, who did not run for re-election.

UTAH: Republican John Curtis has won his race for U.S. Senate, defeating Democrat Caroline Gleich. The two were in a battle for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Mitt Romney.

VERMONT: Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders has won reelection, defeating Republican challenger Gerald Malloy.

VIRGINIA: Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine has won his bid for reelection against Republican challenger Hung Cao.

WYOMING: Republican Sen. John Barasso has won his re-election race against Democrat challenger

 As of 7:25pm ET, Donald Trump has a 61% chance of winning the presidency.

As of 7:48pm ET, Republicans have a 66% chance to control the House.
