According to multiple reports, X owner Elon Musk will be at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida Tuesday night, watching the election results come in alongside former President Donald Trump.
Musk, who publicly endorsed Trump on July 13, the day Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has been in close talks with the former president over the past several months, and has enthusiastically campaigned for him.
Trump announced in September that if he wins the election, he will create a Government Efficiency Commission” tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government — and making recommendations for drastic reforms,” and will put Musk in charge of it.
However, the New York Times, who first reported that Musk will spend Election Night with Trump, dramatically lamented in a report that this will “give Mr. Trump direct access to the person controlling one of key information platforms on what could be a chaotic evening.”
The New York Times wrote:
Mr. Musk, according to three people with knowledge of his schedule, plans to be at Mar-a-Lago for some of the evening festivities in Palm Beach, Fla. He will be among a small group watching the returns with Mr. Trump as they come in, according to two people with knowledge of the plan.
Mr. Trump is hosting several parties with varying levels of exclusivity, including a dinner for a small number of donors at Mar-a-Lago and an even smaller gathering for those who will hang out with him during the evening. Mr. Trump will then address a larger group, including other donors, at the Palm Beach Convention Center later in the evening.
The NY Times also acknowledged that Trump and Musk speak multiple times per week, and noted that Musk “has spent at least $119 million on a super PAC supporting Mr. Trump and has held events on his behalf in Pennsylvania.”
The Times further pushed the panic button:
But one of the biggest benefits that Mr. Musk has brought to the Trump team is his ownership of X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
Democrats fear that Mr. Musk may use his personal feed on X to promote election misinformation. In the weeks leading up to Tuesday, Mr. Musk has posted raw data on early votes to falsely suggest that Mr. Trump has an insurmountable lead in places like Pennsylvania, and he has shared his concerns about the reliability of voting machines.
In an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan Monday night, Musk warned that if Democrats win this election, “they will legalize enough illegals to turn the swing states and everywhere will be like California.”
“There will be no escape. This is it. This is the last chance. Go out and vote,” Musk said, adding, “Vote like your life depends on it. Vote like your future. depends on it, because it does. This is the last chance.”
Elon Musk looks into the camera on Rogan’s podcast and makes his final warning before Election Day.
