Former President Trump has closed in on Vice President Kamala Harris in New Hampshire, a state Republicans haven’t won since 2000.

An Oct. 21-23 Emerson College/WHDH poll shows Harris leading by just three points, with 50% to Trump’s 47% and 2% supporting third-party candidates. This narrow margin indicates a surprisingly competitive race in the Democratic-leaning state, which Biden won by over 7% in 2020. Polling suggests a shift among male voters favoring Trump, while Harris retains strong support among women, similar to Biden’s last election performance.

“Harris’ margin among women is similar to that of Biden in 2020 — however, male voters have shifted about two points toward Trump,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. “In addition, Harris is underperforming Biden’s 2020 support among independent voters, who break for Harris by 13 points, but broke for Biden by about double that amount.”

According to Emerson College Polling, economic issues are central in New Hampshire, with 34% of voters prioritizing the economy and 26% citing housing affordability, potentially favoring Trump’s campaign promises on financial recovery and job creation. For Harris, addressing these concerns is crucial to solidifying her base in the state.

Additional polls show challenges for Harris, including a narrow race for Arab American support, where Trump leads 45% to her 43%, as per an Arab News/YouGov poll. Harris’s team is reportedly worried about her standing in key swing states like Michigan, where Arab American and Muslim voters could be decisive.

According to a Wall Street Journal poll, Trump now leads Harris 47%-45%, a shift from August when Harris held a slight edge within the margin of error.
