BURIED DETAIL: NY Times’ source who backs up Kamala’s McDonald’s claim is active with Harris campaign

From the Washington Free BeaconA New York Times report on Sunday that equated skepticism about Vice President Kamala Harris’s claim to have worked at McDonald’s with birtherism was based in large part on a source—a friend of Harris’s—who said that Harris’s late mother told her about the job.

“Donald Trump has claimed without evidence that Ms. Harris never worked at the fast-food chain,” the paper said. “Her campaign and a friend say she did.”

Meet Wanda Kagan, Harris’s high school classmate and longtime girlfriend, whom the Times described as “a close friend of Ms. Harris’s when they attended high school together in Montreal.” Kagan, per the Times, “said that Ms. Harris’s mother, who died in 2009, had told Ms. Kagan about the summer job years ago.”

What the Times did not tell its readers is that Kagan is a full-throated Harris supporter who has appeared alongside the vice president at several campaign events. She also served as a surrogate for her old friend on television during the Democratic National Convention.

Kagan is the first living person to step forward in the seven weeks since a Free Beacon investigation first raised doubts about Harris’s claim to say that Harris worked at McDonald’s. Kagan’s claim, that she heard about McDonald’s from Harris’s mother, cannot be verified because Harris’s mother is dead. To date, the Harris campaign itself has not produced a single person with firsthand knowledge of Harris’s McDonald’s job, other than Harris herself.

The McDonald’s corporation released a statement on Sunday amid the growing doubt over Harris’ claims that she worked there. The statement does not specially deny Harris ever worked at a McDonalds, but says they have no record of such.

The New York Times, clearly biased in favor of Harris, mockingly wrote:

But former President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly accused her of inventing it. Lacking a shred of proof, he has charged that she never actually worked under the golden arches — recalling his earlier false claim that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States. Mr. Trump’s latest allegation also appears to be false.

The Times admits that Harris has provided no proof she actually worked at McDonalds, but writes:

As with the birtherism conspiracy theory, this one puts Ms. Harris and her aides in something of a bind. Tracking down pay stubs or other documentation from so long ago would be a difficult task for almost anyone. McDonald’s corporate representatives have ignored media requests for corroborating information. And trying to knock down Mr. Trump’s claims could also breathe life into them.

As “evidence” that Trump is lying and Harris is right, the Times brings forth Wanda Kagan, who claimed that Kamala’s now-deceased mother once told Kagan that Kamala worked at a McDonalds.

But, as the Free Beacon points out, Kagan is a “Harris campaign surrogate,” something the NY Times failed to mention.

Kagan has multiple photos on her Instagram page of herself and Harris together, and some of herself at the DNC convention in August.

The obvious bias in the New York Times article is drawing mockery.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wrote, “The NY Slimes does it again! Did they ask Kamala WHICH McDonalds she worked at? It’s not hard to verify and frankly what if she did? Her only private sector job ever?”

Political commentator Marc Thiessen blasted the Times report:

This is biased even for the @nytimes. McDonald’s has no record of her working there. The Times found no one who worked with her or employed her. It’s the only blue collar job she claims to have had. She does not mention the job in an early resume at the time. She does not mention it in her memo. No friends (save one) remember her saying she did. The first time she mentions it publicly is … during her 2019 campaign.

All of which proves Trump is lying.

They clearly put the investigative resources of the Time to prove she worked there and couldn’t verify it — yet instead of reporting that wrote a Trump is lying column.

Unbelievable.

Elon Musk had one word for it: “Unreal.”

Attorney Laura Powell pointed out, “To be clear, it wasn’t just a job resume. Kamala applied for a government job that REQUIRED she include ALL her employment dating back 10 years. She was either lying then, or majorly failed to follow directions, or is lying now.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) mocked, “”As someone who worked at McDonald’s I can pretty much guarantee Kamala never worked there. We had no teleprompters and she’s unable to function without one of those. Not sure exactly what she’d have been able to do!”

NEWS ALERT: McDonalds releases statement, throws cold water on Harris’ claim of working there
