An armed man was arrested near Donald Trump’s Coachella Valley rally on Saturday in what the local sheriff suggested may have been a third assassination attempt against the former president.

The suspect, 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was caught at a checkpoint with fake VIP and press passes, along with unregistered weapons, including a loaded shotgun, handgun, and high-capacity magazine, according to the Riverside County sheriff’s office. Miller, who lacked a valid ID, was detained after police discovered the weapons during a vehicle search, according to a New York Post report.

“We probably stopped another assassination attempt,” Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

The FBI, however, claims this was not an assassination attempt, and Trump’s life was not in danger.

Miller was charged with possessing a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine. According to police records, he was released after posting a bail of $5,000.
