VIDEO: Hillary Clinton advocates restricting free speech rights for Americans, gets blasted on social media

From Fox News: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Saturday that social media companies must moderate content on their platforms or else “we lose total control.”

Clinton told CNN host Michael Smerconish that while there have been some steps taken at the state level to regulate social media, she wants to see more done by the federal government to moderate content.

“We can look at the state of California, the state of New York, I think some other states have also taken action,” Clinton said.

“But we need national action, and sadly, our Congress has been dysfunctional when it comes to addressing these threats to our children,” she added.

“This should be at the top of every legislative, political agenda. There should be a lot of things done. We should be, in my view, repealing something called section 230, which gave platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be just pass-throughs, that they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted. But we now know that that was an overly simple view, that if the platforms, whether it’s Facebook or Twitter, X or Instagram or TikTok, whatever they are, if they don’t moderate and monitor the content we lose total control and it’s not just the social and psychological effects it’s real harm, it’s child porn and threats of violence, things that are terribly dangerous,” Clinton declared.

The conversation was under the guise to protecting children from dangerous content on social media. However, Clinton’s remarks calling for censorship on social media have set off alarm bells among conservatives.

(Ironically, efforts by conservatives to protect children, such as opposition to LGBTQ-related content for young children, opposing children being exposed to drag queens, and trying to keep boys out of girls’ sports have been meet with outrage by liberals.)

Donald Trump Jr. responded to Clinton’s calls for censorship. “They’re not even pretending anymore. They want to censor you they want to silence you and they want to smother you. This is Democrat Utopia… you can do and say whatever you want as long as it’s 100% in line with their narrative,” he wrote.

Mike Benz, a former State Department official, warned, “I have been put here on God’s green earth, sent here from the future, to tell you this is THE CURRENT consensus policy pivot of every major organ of the US State Dept (which Hillary Clinton used to run), & State’s programming is specifically designed to achieve total control.”

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard also reacted, writing, “Hillary said it: when you allow free speech, “we lose total control.” People like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris do not believe in the First Amendment because they see it as an obstacle to achieving their real goal: “total control.””

Journalist Collin Rugg also shared a video of a collection of clips where Clinton is blatantly calling for an end to free speech, people who post what she calls “propaganda” to be criminally prosecuted, and for the liberal media to team up against Trump. Rugg wrote:

Hillary Clinton is publicly calling for the destruction of the First Amendment & is calling on Americans who use that right to be criminally prosecuted.

She is also calling on the media to only share negative information on Trump.

Here is what she has said in recent months:

1. Clinton tells Rachel Maddow that some Americans who share “propaganda” should be criminally prosecuted.

2. Clinton says social media platforms like X need to moderate content so “we don’t lose total control.”

3. Clinton says the media needs to all report the same news and have a single “consistent” narrative about Trump, only reporting about how “dangerous” he is.

Journalist Michael Shellenberger warned, “Bill Gates two weeks ago, John Kerry last week, and Hillary Clinton today — all demanding government censorship of X. Hard to see this as a coincidence. They appear to be laying the groundwork for totalitarianism. Our democratic republic is in danger.”

Law professor Jonathan Turley wrote, “In pushing her latest book, “Something Lost and Something Gained,” Clinton again stressed the dangers of free speech. What is clear is that the gain of greater power for leaders like Clinton would be the loss of free speech for ordinary citizens.”

“Hillary Clinton just said on CNN, “we lose total control” if social media content is not more regulated. Exactly! She’s accidentally admitting the whole point of their attack on social media. Social media can’t be contained and they’re losing their grip on power. They hate it!” wrote Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks.

Swedish journalist Peter Imanuelsen wrote, “THEY ADMITTED IT. Hillary Clinton says they will “lose total control” if social media like X isn’t engaging in censorship. The left wants to control the narrative through censorship. Everyone must see this 👇.”
