Taylor Swift’s approval rating among Republicans dropped sharply after endorsing Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, according to a new NBC News poll.
In the past year, Republican negative views of Swift rose from 26% to 47%, while positive views fell from 28% to 12%. Her approval among independents also declined, from 34% in 2023 to 26% in the latest survey.
“A good lesson that it’s better to be a tortured poet than a tortured figure in the political arena,” said Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, the Democrat pollster who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, according to a Newsmax report.
Taylor Swift’s approval among Democrats rose 5 points after endorsing Kamala Harris, increasing from 53% to 58%, according to the poll. Swift endorsed Harris in a social media post after the Sept. 10 presidential debate with Donald Trump. Harris’ campaign quickly capitalized on the endorsement with a Swift-themed ad campaign in New York City and Las Vegas.
In the latest NBC News poll, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump 47% to 41% in a multicandidate race. The survey, conducted by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies from Sept. 13-17, included 1,000 registered voters and had a margin of error of +/—3.1%.
