Vice President Kamala Harris is expanding her outreach to Hispanic Americans with a $3 million Spanish-language ad campaign starting September 15, timed for Hispanic Heritage Month.
“Hispanic Heritage Month is an important moment to celebrate the richness and diversity of Latino communities across the country,” Harris-Walz campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a press release, according to a Washington Examiner report. “It is also a critical moment for us to leverage, as we continue to reach Latino voters about the stakes of this election, how crucial their vote will be in deciding this race, and defeating Trump and his anti-Latino agenda.”
Chavez-Rodriguez emphasized that Hispanic Heritage Month will be crucial for convincing voters to support Harris. The campaign aims to sway swing states like Nevada and Arizona and boost Florida’s competitiveness. Key components include a bilingual phone banking program to inform Hispanic voters and events with Rep. Chuy Garcia in Michigan. The goal is to reach 500,000 Hispanic voters through a call-a-thon next month.
Harris and running mate Gov. Tim Walz will attend events in swing states, including Mexican Independence Day celebrations. Harris is also scheduled to speak at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute conference on September 18.
