A Cuban national wanted for a recent Tennessee murder was arrested in La Pryor, Texas, on Monday after entering the U.S. via the CBP-One app, according to Senator Marsha Blackburn.

Authorities issued a lookout for the suspect after the body of 25-year-old Dayana Garcia was found in a Cleveland, Tennessee, home. Dayren Roque Lopez was identified as the sole suspect in what is believed to be a domestic violence murder, according to a Breitbart report.

Shortly after Garcia’s body was found, Texas deputies near the U.S.-Mexico border in Zavala County spotted the suspect’s Toyota Corolla in La Pryor, over 1,100 miles from Cleveland, Tennessee. Recognizing the vehicle from a previous lookout, they stopped it near a store, just 50 miles from Mexico.

Sen. Blackburn had released the following statement in a posted video on the wanted suspect: “An illegal who entered the U.S. through the Biden-Harris CBP One app last year is the suspect in the murder of a young woman in Tennessee. This administration is welcoming violent criminals into our nation. The blood of the victims is on Joe and Kamal’s hands.”

Zavala County Deputy V. Alvizo arrested Roque-Lopez without incident around 6:45 on Tuesday and booked him into the Zavala County Jail on Tennessee homicide charges. Roque-Lopez now awaits extradition to face murder charges. Sheriff Eusevio Salinas Jr. praised his deputies, particularly Deputy Alvizo, for safely apprehending the dangerous fugitive without harm to the public or anyone involved.

“This guy was definitely headed to Mexico and wasn’t that far from reaching the border,” Sheriff Salinas explained. “The fact that our deputy managed to make the arrest without injury to anyone is a remarkable feat.”
