From Fox5 Atlanta: BARROW COUNTY, Ga. – Apalachee High School in Winder in Barrow County was put on a hard lockdown Wednesday morning because of a shooting incident, according to officials.
FOX 5 Atlanta began receiving multiple phone calls and messages about a possible shooting before it was officially confirmed.
SkyFOX 5 flew over the scene and emergency responders can be seen treating people at the school. At least two people were observed being put into helicopters to be flown to hospitals for treatment.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office told FOX News around 11:30 a.m. that there was an active shooter situation earlier this morning and multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency responders were dispatched to the school around 10:30 a.m. They also confirmed that one person has been taken into custody.
The school is located about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. Nearly 1,900 students in grades 9-12 are enrolled at the school.
Details on the number of casualties and their conditions is still unknown. This is a developing story….

The FBI Atlanta office released a statement, saying their agents are on the scene, working with local law enforcement.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) released the following statement:
I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state. (1/2)
