According to NBC News, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to focus more on attacking former President Donald Trump than on policy substance during the September 10 ABC News presidential debate at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Harris’s team is reportedly prioritizing the optics of the debate, aiming to rattle Trump and portray Harris as a strong, fearless leader. She may target Trump over his opposition to a “bipartisan” pro-migration border bill that failed in the Senate, a move Democrats claim, albeit falsely, prevented the bill from passing Congress.

During her recent interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Harris claimed that she and President Biden worked with Congress on a bipartisan immigration bill, only for Trump to block it by instructing Republicans to oppose it. However, Breitbart News pointed out that the bill faced bipartisan opposition from most Republicans and many Democrats, who objected to the lack of amnesty provisions for illegal aliens.

Once details of the bill’s provisions to increase legal immigration and allow tens of thousands of weekly illegal border crossings leaked, Trump and GOP members opposed them.

While Harris is expected to target Trump, her campaign is also reportedly developing a strategy to distance her from the Biden administration’s policies, potentially even placing blame on Biden himself.
