Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban sparked discussion on Friday night with a poll on X (formerly Twitter), asking his followers, “Whose persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?”

The two options were Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The poll ended with Trump winning 68.9% of the vote to Harris’ 31.1%, with over 804,000 votes cast. The results drew reactions from several prominent political figures, including former Republican candidate Valentina Gomez, who criticized Harris’ professional history in the comments.

Mark Cuban, a longtime critic of Donald Trump, initially supported Trump during his first presidential campaign in 2015. Cuban discussed his early support for Trump in an interview with Vivek Ramaswamy on X on August 7, explaining his stance before later becoming an outspoken opponent: “In 2015, I was like, ‘He’s great. He’s not a typical Stepford candidate. I thought that was a positive. A big part of that is I didn’t think he had a chance. I just wanted to kind of screw things up in traditional politics, which I’m not a fan of.”

In July 2015, “Shark Tank” host Mark Cuban even expressed interest in being Donald Trump’s running mate for the 2016 election. In a post on his social media app “Cyberdust,” Cuban praised Trump for speaking his mind and providing honest answers rather than prepared ones, stating, “I don’t care what his actual positions are. This is more important than anything any candidate has done in years.”

Times have clearly changed. Earlier this year, Mark Cuban made it clear he would choose Joe Biden over Donald Trump, even if Biden were near death, telling Bloomberg News: “If Biden were receiving last rites, I would still vote for him over Trump.”
