1) Michelle Obama’s 3rd consecutive DNC speech slamming Trump rips his ‘racist lies,’ ‘narrow view of the world’

From Fox News: Former first lady Michelle Obama returned to familiar ground during her Tuesday speech to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, delivering her third DNC speech in a row squarely aimed at denouncing former President Trump. In Tuesday night’s address, Obama took swipes at Trump’s inheritance of “generational wealth” and suggested that race was the reason he opposed her husband’s presidency.

“For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us,” the former first lady said about Trump’s view of her husband’s political career. “See, his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who happened to be Black.”

“Wait,” Obama said, interrupting the applause from the crowd. “I want to know. I want to know — who’s going to tell him, who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs?”

Obama continued, “Look, it’s his same old con. The same old con. Doubling down on ugly misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better.”

2) Bernie’s hypocrisy

From Graham Allen via X: I’m confused. Bernie Sanders just went off on billionaires buying primary elections. The Democrats didn’t even get to choose their nominee this election cycle…

4) Escaped Mississippi inmate —wanted for murder — in standoff with police at Chicago restaurant blocks away from DNC

From New York Post: A fugitive wanted on murder and robbery charges is in a standoff with police in a Chicago restaurant just blocks from the Democratic National Convention.

Joshua Zimmerman was barricaded alone inside the Seafood Junction restaurant Wednesday, according to Justin Smith, chief deputy of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office

Chicago SWAT teams arrived on the scene just half a mile from the DNC at the United Center around 4 a.m.

Zimmerman escaped from a Hernando, Mississippi, courthouse on June 14, Smith said. He changed from a jumpsuit into civilian clothing then exited through a door that wasn’t being guarded by officers, CBS News reported.

5) Don Lemon Shares Surprising Video Of Female Voters In Chicago Revealing Who They’re Voting For

From Daily Wire: Former CNN host Don Lemon shared a video on social media Wednesday showing women he interviewed on the street who revealed who they were going to vote for in the upcoming election. The left-wing journalist interviewed white and black women on the streets of Chicago and all of the women who he included in the video said that they were voting for Trump.

The first woman that Lemon interviewed said: “I’m going for Trump. I feel like every time they don’t want somebody who is good for us to win, they throw somebody black in our face, thinking that’s gonna, like, make us vote for the black person.”

“I’m going for Trump,” she later added. “Kamala was on Biden’s team, and I don’t like Biden. Gas wasn’t this high when Trump was our president. Food wasn’t this high. I’m going for Trump.”

6) Voters Outside DNC Slam Harris’ Record, Say She ‘Doesn’t Give A F*ck’ About Them

From Daily Caller: Voters outside the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago ripped Vice President Kamala Harris’ record on Monday, telling an independent journalist how the vice president “doesn’t give a fuck” about black voters.

A group of black voters joined journalist Nick Shirley as he questioned attendees at the DNC about Harris’ qualifications to become president. While all three expressed support for former President Donald Trump, one woman said Harris was trying to appeal to black voters through Hollywood elites and questioning how the vice president has used her racial identity over the years.

“It’ll be cool to see a female black, you know, she’s half black, not fully black, but it’ll be cool to see a black president, female black president. But I’m definitely voting for Trump,” one voter first told Shirley.

7) Biden-Harris Department of Energy official calls for ‘queering nuclear weapons’ as part of radical DEI agenda

From Fox News: A recent hire at the nuclear security wing of the Department of Energy has previously called for disarmament policies – which reduce or eliminate nuclear weapons – arguing that advancing “queer theory” was essential to that agenda as well as important to America’s national security.

The Biden-Harris administration announced Sneha Nair had been appointed as special assistant at the National Nuclear Security Administration in February 2024. Nair believes in eradicating purported “White supremacy” in the nuclear field as well as “queering nuclear weapons” as part of a diversity, equity and inclusion push she believes is essential for deterring threats to nuclear energy facilities in the U.S.

“Finally, queer theory informs the struggle for nuclear justice and disarmament,” she wrote last year. “Queer theory helps to shift the perception of nuclear weapons as instruments for security by telling the hidden stories of displacement, illness, and trauma caused by their production and testing.”

Nair argues that DEI, more broadly, “is essential for creating effective nuclear policy.”

8) Former Home Depot CEO on Fed officials warning over jobs data: ‘About time’ the government ‘got honest’

From Fox Business: Home Depot’s former CEO is calling for the government to tell the truth, as Federal Reserve governors are warning about U.S. jobs data being inflated.

During an appearance on “The Evening Edit,” Monday, Bob Nardelli suggested that the country’s jobs data is “woefully overstated,” arguing that it’s “about time” the government “got honest.”

“You and I watch this very closely every month,” Nardelli told host Elizabeth MacDonald in response to Federal Reserve Governors Michelle Bowman and Lisa Cook warning that job gains are overstated, and the labor market could be weaker than we realize.

9) Value of gold bar hits $1 million for first time ever

From Fox Business: For the first time ever, a single gold bar is worth $1 million, thanks to a surge in prices.

Gold bars weighing 400 troy ounces hit the million-dollar mark after the price of the precious metal climbed above $2,500 per troy ounce. However, not all gold bars weigh 400 ounces. The recent highs are a first for the precious metal.

Spot gold was up about 1% to $2,563 per ounce as of 10:45 a.m. ET, surpassing a previous record hit on Friday. London’s gold price benchmark hit an all-time high of $2,521.55 per ounce at a morning auction on Tuesday, the London Bullion Market Association said. Friday marked the first time gold had recorded spot prices above $2,500. Gold prices previously rose above the $2,400-level for the first time in April.

A JPMorgan report published last month said geopolitical risks, inflation hedging and interest rate outlooks have helped feed the gains that gold prices have posted this year.

10) Boeing’s ‘Unmatched’ New Jets Grounded As New Structural Failure Takes Off

From Daily Caller: Boeing grounded its new 777X jets after a post-test flight inspection revealed a structural problem that could further threaten the company’s reputation barely two weeks into the company’s new helmsman’s tenure, according to reports.

Boeing discovered the thrust link structure of its third 777-9 test airplane had come off after the jet completed a five-hour-31-minute test flight from Kona Airport in Hawaii Aug. 16, The Air Current reported Monday. The structure helps mount an aircraft engine to the aircraft.

“During scheduled maintenance, we identified a component that did not perform as designed,” Boeing reportedly told The Air Current. “Our team is replacing the part and capturing any learnings from the component and will resume flight testing when ready.”

The incident came to light barely two weeks after Boeing’s new President and Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg’s assumed office Aug. 8. Boeing’s first two 777-9 test jets also had cracks in the crucial structure, the company subsequently found, according to the outlet.
