There are so many Hindus in Houston, Texas, they have now erected a giant statue of one of their ‘gods’… Hanuman, a Hindu god whose shape is half-monkey, half-human.

The enormous, 90-foot-tall statue, which is reportedly the 3rd tallest statue in the United States, was just unveiled Sunday in Sugarland, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

According to a June report by the Houston Chronicle, about 150,000 people from India currently live in the Houston area, and they have opened over 40 Hindu temples in the city.

Overall, Texas reportedly has over 450,000 Indian immigrants living in their state.

The Hinustantimes.com reported:

A grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony was held in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, August 18, where a 90-foot-tall Hanuman statue was inaugurated. This is the third tallest statue in the United States, according to Latestly.

The statue was named ‘Statue of Union,’ and it commemorates Lord Hanuman’s role in reuniting Sri Rama and Sita. The temple has been built at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, Texas. The visionary behind the project happens to be His Holiness Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji.

A video of the newly-unveiled statue is going viral on social media. It was first posted online by independent journalist @OnTheNewsBeat on X/Twitter, who announced, “Prana pratishtha held today in Houston, Texas for this 90ft tall Hanuman murthi. It is now the 3rd tallest statue in the United States.”

“This is just weird,” commented Fox News host Harris Faulkner.

DMLNewsApp and TeamDML.com founder Dennis Michael Lynch shared the video and wrote, “Now the 3rd largest statue in the US, put in place by Hindus in Houston, is a monkey. This is the result of mass migration into the US. It needs to stop.”

KP George, a judge in Fort Bend County, Texas, also shared photos and announced, “The 90’ Abhaya Hanuman “Statue of Union,” the tallest Hanuman statue in North America, was inaugurated today at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land.”

George, a Christian, added, “I was honored to attend this historic event, celebrating a powerful symbol of strength, compassion, and unity for our community. #UnityInDiversity #FortBendProud.”

X user @KhabrNow, a journalist, also wrote, “The Indian community inaugurated a 90 foot tall statue of their god, Hanuman, in Texas. Indian Americans are the highest earning ethnic group in America and run most of their major companies.

“Indian Americans will likely see their first president in Kamala Harris soon as well.”

The ceremony included having flowers dropped on the statue from a helicopter.
