January 6 defendant John Strand, a model, writer, actor, and musician from Los Angeles California, is speaking out after finally being released from prison over charges against him by the Biden administration for being at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Strand, 39, says he was only acting as a body guard for Dr. Simone Gold, who was scheduled to give a speech at the Capitol that day.

Strand was found “guilty” of a felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and four misdemeanor violations, and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

However, he was released early after serving just one year, after a Supreme Court ruling determined the government was misapplying the obstruction statute against multiple defendants.

Strand said he was placed in solitary confinement for four months of his time in federal prison.

The now-free patriot released a video on social media on Sunday and announced, “The Biden DOJ put me in prison for protesting — for having a difference of opinion and making my voice heard. What they thought would break me has only made me stronger and more determined in this fight. I will not stop until all January 6 defendants are free.”

“What they have done to the J6 political prisoners is shocking and egregious and unacceptable,” Strand said. “Ive been in prison for a year. God has set me free, and I am more motivated and empowered than ever before to continue exposing government corruption and advocating for the release of all the J6 hostages.”

On his website, Strand announced he is about to publish a book, titled, “Patriot Plea: My J6 journey as a political prisoner in the divided states of America.”

Strand testified before a congressional committee led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in June 2023, just prior to starting his prison sentence.

Also in June 2023, Strand posted the following video explaining exactly what happened during his time at the U.S. Capitol on the day of the protest.

On a GiveSendGo fundraising page, Strand shared the following statement:

The Biden administration put me in jail, as they did many others, because I hold a difference of opinion. I am not a violent criminal, I am not a radical — I’m just a normal guy who loves this country and wants to protect it from the evil forces looking to completely take it over. So I spoke out… and I protested…. and I made my voice heard.

Since when did that become such a crime?

The Biden DOJ arrested me and put me in prison in a highly political case. First they threatened me with a 20 year felony and attempted to coerce me into admitting wrongdoing and to take a lesser plea. I refused because I could not in good-conscious participate in their lies and fraudulent narrative. I stood up for the TRUTH.

During incarceration, they put me in solitary confinement for four months because I gave an interview from prison highlighting the difficult conditions and the mistreatment and abuses.

This has been an exceptionally difficult time — I was ripped away from my family, my job, my life as I knew it — but I stood my ground relentless in our fight, and I did NOT accept the DOJ’s threats & lesser plea. I knew the case was fundamentally wrong, and my beliefs were vindicated by the Supreme Court. I was released after the SCOTUS ruling determined that the DOJ engaged in flagrant abuses of the law, charging defendants wrongfully and with statues that should have never applied.

I now want to make a stand and fight for others who were wrongfully targeted by the Biden Department of Justice, and I need a little help to get back on my feet and get back in the fight.

If there’s one thing for sure, I am committed, more dedicated, and more empowered than I ever have been, and I will not stop until every defendant wrongly imprisoned is freed.

I have some big plans for this that I’ll announce soon. Stay tuned.

“The last year in prison was not an easy time for me. But I refused to accept the DOJ’s lesser pleas and admit wrongdoing for something I KNEW was a lie. Please consider helping me get back on my feet. I can’t wait to show you what I have planned next,” Strand wrote, sharing a link to his GiveSendGo account.
