From the New York Post: A member of Venezuela’s notorious Tren de Aragua gang was released by a Chicago judge despite a request from Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain him — just a month before he was charged in a violent jewelry store heist in Dever, The Post can reveal.

Jean Torres-Roman was arrested this month in the shocking caught-on-camera robbery from June 25, in which two female staffers at a Denver jewelry store were pistol-whipped and threatened with death. Authorities have since identified the 21-year-old as a member of the Venezuelan prison gang.

But just a month earlier, Torres-Roman was arrested over 1,000 miles away in Chicago and charged with unlawful use of a weapon after he was caught trying to stash a stolen gun, according to CWB Chicago.

Cops busted him on May 5 after a gas station security guard reported hearing gunshots and spotted Torres-Roman running from the gunfire while holding a gun.

According to a Chicago Police report, Torres-Roman placed the gun under the passenger seat of the car, and dumped a box of 43 rounds of ammunition under a nearby garbage can.

Torres-Roman had illegally crossed the border in El Paso, Texas, in September 2023. After the Chicago incident, ICE placed a detainer on him.  However, Chicago is a “sanctuary city,” and Cook County Judge David Kelly defied ICE’s order and set Torres-Roman free.

After being freed from jail in Chicago, Torres-Roman fled to Denver, and then joined seven others to carry out the violent jewelry store robbery.  Following the jewelry store heist, Torres-Roman fled again, this time to Las Cruces, New Mexico.  There, federal authorities found him and hauled him back to Denver to face charges.

The other seven accomplices in the jewelry store robbery are still at large.

George, a journalist and prominent X user, share a video of the violent jewelry store robbery and wrote:

BREAKING: The same Venezuelan migrant gang member who was released by a Chicago judge after being caught with a stolen gun was busted 1,000 miles away in Denver, Colorado committing a violent jewelry store robbery, stealing $2 million in items

Welcome to Kamala Harris’s America

His name is Jean Torres-Roman and he is an active member of Tren de Araguas. In May of this year, he was caught trying to stash a stolen gun by Chicado PD. ICE demanded that he remain detained in Chicago, but the Democrat judge defied their request and freed him anyway. Then he fled to Denver, Colorado before his court hearing and committed the robbery in late June. The robbery involved pistol-whipping and threatening death to two female staffers

Recently, he was finally found, arrested, and charged but I’m almost certain the Democrat judges in Denver will do the same thing the Chicago judge did. The cops are still looking for all eight illegal criminals.

By the way, the “breaking” aspect of this story is that it’s the same guy who was caught in Chicago. Not that he unsurprisingly committed crimes elsewhere.

Retired ICE Field Office Director John Fabbricatore responded to the report, writing, “Sanctuary policy is dangerous for US citizens and legal residents. Will the left ever give up this failure of a policy? Is this what Denver wants?”
