2) Dozens Of Hollywood Stars Flocking To Chicago For DNC

From Daily Wire: Dozens of Hollywood stars will flock to Chicago next week for events and concerts planned around the Democratic National Convention.

Actors, comedians, and singers will travel to the Windy City ahead of the official selection of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July following his disastrous debate performance, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

John Legend, an outspoken supporter of the Democratic Party and past contenders for the White House, will hold a concert for Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” will have Jon Stewart and its “all-star news team” on hand during the week to film the show, with Stewart hosting a live show on Thursday night, THR noted.

Singer Joan Jet, actress Octavia Spencer, Billy Porter, DJ-D Nice, Lil Jon, along with several stars of the reality series “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” are also named as being at the convention. The advocacy group The Creative Coalition has confirmed that it booked stars like Uma Thurma, Uzo Aduba, Busy Phillips, Jon Cryer, David Cross, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and more for a series of events during the week. Connie Britton is also expected to make the trip, THR noted. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Murphy are expected at the convention, too, with a source telling THR Don Cheadle may be there as well.

3) DNC invites Jeffrey Marsh, the “Go No Contact” LGBTQ influencer, as special guest

From Jenn Cheng via X/Twitter: Jeffrey Marsh, advising minors to go “no contact”… THIS is who the DNC has issued a special invite to.

If you are a parent, I don’t know how you can, in good conscience, vote Democrat this election. So many things are riding on this election, and one of them is the well-being and education of your KIDS.

4) Prosecutors request moving ‘El Mayo’ Mexican drug lord to New York City jurisdiction

From Washington Examiner: A prominent Mexican drug lord nicknamed “El Mayo,” who was arrested in the United States, could be headed to New York City after prosecutors filed a request Thursday to move him from Texas.

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada is known as a top leader and co-founder of Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel and faces charges in multiple U.S. locales. Zambada and one of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s sons were arrested last month after being flown into New Mexico. Zambada said he was kidnapped in his home country en route to what he thought was a meeting with a Mexican official.

Now, prosecutors in Texas are trying to move Zambada to the New York jurisdiction that includes Brooklyn, where the elder Guzmán was convicted in 2019 of drug and conspiracy charges and sentenced to life in prison. If the prosecutors’ request is approved, the case against Zambada in Texas will proceed after the one in New York. He faces racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy, and other charges in his Texas case, while in Brooklyn, he is charged with running a continuing criminal enterprise, murder conspiracy, drug offenses, and other crimes.

5) Poll: More than 40% of Venezuelans – 10 Million People – Considering Leaving Country

From Breitbart: A poll published this week by the Venezuelan firm Meganálisis found that 43.2 percent of Venezuelans — more than 10 million people — are considering leaving the country following the results of the July 28 sham presidential election, which socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro claims he “won.”

Venezuela is enduring a new political crisis after the country’s National Electoral Council (CNE) — an entity controlled by the Maduro regime — claimed that Maduro was “reelected” for a third six-year term after “winning” the July 28 sham presidential election. The electoral authority has refused to publish voter data that could demonstrate that Maduro “obtained” 51 percent of the votes as they claim.

The Venezuelan opposition has accused Maduro of stealing the election and published thousands of vote tallies obtained on the day of the election that it claims can prove that its candidate, Edmundo González, was the actual winner of the election. Several countries and international organizations have denounced Maduro’s “victory” claims as fraudulent.

6) Illegal immigrants prioritized over Black Americans

From IMemeThereforeIAm via X/Twitter: If this doesn’t break your heart and piss you off at the same time, I don’t know what will. This veteran, who worked hard to start her business and buy her food truck, is now sharing her story of selling it to an illegal immigrant who has no credit or savings but is able to purchase it because he is going to receive funds.

“I need my president to tell me why I’ve worked so hard all these years, all these decades, and couldn’t get a business loan. But I bust my ass to get the money to create my business, and now we’ve got immigrants coming here, and they’re getting money. Money! For doing nothing but just being here. It’s not right, and I want answers.“

7) Matthew Perry death probe reveals actor was manipulated by ‘leeches’ in his inner circle

From Fox News: Matthew Perry relied on a number of people to supply and inject the ketamine that ultimately led to his fatal overdose in October.

Martin Estrada, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, announced during a press conference Thursday that five defendants, including two doctors, were arrested and charged with multiple counts in Perry’s death.

Perry’s live-in assistant, defendant Kenny Iwamasa, allegedly learned how to inject ketamine from co-defendant Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then left vials of the dissociative anesthetic drug for Iwamasa to inject Perry at his home in the Pacific Palisades. The drug was allegedly secured through “The Ketamine Queen,” aka Jasveen Sangha, her co-conspirator, Dr. Mark Chavez, and middleman, Eric Fleming.

8) ESPN fires Sam Ponder, who spoke up about trans inclusion in women’s sports, and analyst Robert Griffin III

From Fox News: ESPN fired Samantha Ponder and Robert Griffin III on Thursday. The Athletic first reported the shake-up and ESPN confirmed the news to Fox News Digital. Ponder was anchor on “Sunday NFL Countdown” and Griffin was an analyst who appeared on multiple shows.

The decision to fire Ponder sparked most of the outrage on social media. Riley Gaines, the host of OutKick’s “Gaines for Girls” podcast, and former ESPN anchor Sage Steele were among those to defend Ponder.

Ponder was among the tiny group of personalities who called for fairness in women’s sports amid the ongoing debate over transgender inclusion in women’s sports. She also defended Kansas City Chiefs’ Harrison Butker for his faith-based speech at Benedictine College.

10) Poland overtakes China as sales market for German products

From Reuters: German exporters sold more goods to Poland than to China in the first half of the year, an analysis showed on Friday, marking the success of a diversification drive by major German companies as they look to reduce their dependence on the Chinese market.

Major German exporting companies in sectors such as industrial goods and autos have long been pillars of the country’s economy and account for its strong trade surplus, but recent tensions between China and the West have driven a change of focus in export strategies.
Data from Germany’s Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, a lobby group which aims to promote trade between Germany and eastern Europe, showed that exports of goods to Poland grew by 4.6% to 48.4 billion euros ($53.2 billion) in the first six months of the year. By contrast, exports to China fell by 2.7% compared with the same period of the previous year to 48.2 billion, said the report, based on preliminary data from the German statistics office.
