From BreitbartAfter actor Dennis Quaid accused Facebook of censoring promotional content for his upcoming movie Reagan, the social media giant has admitted to “incorrectly” rejecting ads for the movie.

Facebook made the admission in a statement to Newsweek, which first reported on Dennis Quaid’s accusations earlier this week.

“While there are no restrictions on this page that would prevent the admins from posting, we did identify a handful of ads from this account that were incorrectly rejected,” a Facebook spokesperson told the outlet.

“This happened because our automated systems mistakenly determined that content about President Reagan required prior authorization in accordance with our policies for ads about Social Issues, Elections or Politics. This was a mistake and the restriction on the ads has been lifted.”

Newsweek noted that the film’s digital marketing team had fired off a letter to Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook’s parent company, Meta, outlining numerous issues as they tried to post on Facebook about the upcoming movie.

Facebook not only refused to allow them to boost posts about the film, but also temporarily suspended the movie’s Facebook page at least twice, when they posted video clips about the movie.

“Freedom of expression and a free market are what Americans are known for,” Quaid said in a statement. “Reagan said that the freedoms that we take for granted can be lost in a generation. Censorship like this, coupled with our silent assent is a cautionary indication that we could be in danger of losing those freedoms.”

Quaid plays former President Ronald Reagan in the movie. Stars Jon Voight, C. Thomas Howell, Mena Suvari, Penelope Ann Miller, Leslie-Anne Down and Dan Lauria are also featured in the film.

Below is a trailer of the movie:

Conservative actor and director Kevin Sorbo announced in May, “My latest movie is a must-watch for everybody! Had a wonder time working with my good buddy Dennis Quaid on the Reagan film coming out soon! The left is going to hate this.”

Quaid said in May that he intends to vote for former President Donald Trump in the November election.
