U.S. intelligence officials believe Iran is attempting to undermine former President Trump’s presidential campaign through online influence operations, according to a Monday press briefing.
An official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) stated that U.S. spy agencies have observed Tehran’s efforts to influence the presidential election, likely to avoid heightened tensions with the U.S.
The official noted that American intelligence has not observed any change in Iran’s preferences since 2020, indicating a continued targeting of Trump. Iran is reportedly using extensive online personas and propaganda mills to spread disinformation. The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations has denied any election interference.
In a separate incident, Tehran was accused of plotting to kill Trump following the assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Iran’s UN mission labeled these claims as “unsubstantiated and malicious.”
Iran’s terrorist regime wants Trump to lose because a Trump presidency means a strong, safe, and secure America.
