Where is a blaring headline today atop the Wall Street Journal’s website. It reads:”A Fed Rate Cut Is Finally Within View”

Although Federal Reserve officials are expected to keep interest rates unchanged in the upcoming week, their meeting will still be highly significant.

Throughout their four meetings this year, the possibility of rate cuts has been deferred. However, with recent inflation and labor market trends, officials may hint at the likelihood of a rate cut in their next meeting scheduled for September.

Consequently, this week’s meeting, concluding on Wednesday, might help resolve Chair Jerome Powell’s dilemma of whether to cut rates sooner or wait longer, potentially leaning towards an earlier action.
