Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, awaiting his next sexual assault trial, has been hospitalized due to multiple health issues.
The 72-year-old, who has been in prison since his New York sexual assault conviction (later overturned), was taken to Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward. There, he tested positive for COVID-19 and developed double pneumonia.
According to his representative, Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein is dealing with numerous daily health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid in his heart and lungs.
Weinstein has been in prison since his 2020 conviction for rape in New York, receiving a 23-year sentence. However, in April, the New York Court of Appeals overturned the verdict, citing that the inclusion of unrelated accuser testimonies denied him a fair trial. A new trial is tentatively set for November.
