From The Hill: President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race on Sunday and endorsed Vice President Harris to become his replacement, a historic move that now raises the question of who would be Harris’s running mate if she gets the nod.
It’s not guaranteed that will happen. Harris still has to win the support of enough delegates heading into next month’s Democratic National Convention in order to become the official nominee. But as the current vice president and Biden’s handpicked successor, she is the clear favorite.
The report then provides a list of potential Democrat running mates Harris may be considering:
- Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear
- Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg
- Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro
- North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper
- Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly
- Maryland Gov. Wes Moore
- Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker
- California Gov. Gavin Newsom
- Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
Each one of the above-mentioned potential running mates have released statements on social media, touting their full support for Harris to be the Democrat presidential nominee.
