Vice President Kamala Harris thanked President Joe Biden for his endorsement after he announced he would end his reelection campaign, leaving a vacancy at the top of the Democratic ticket just four months before the election.
In her statement, Harris praised Biden’s accomplishments and highlighted their personal connection, noting she first got to know him through his late son, Beau. She emphasized her intent to “earn and win this nomination,” as delegates will select the Democratic candidate at the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
If nominated and victorious in November, Harris would become the first female and second Black president of the United States.
