Far-left news outlet, Axios, is reporting that many high-ranking Democrats have privately indicated that increasing pressure from party congressional leaders and close associates will likely persuade President Biden to withdraw from the presidential race as soon as this weekend.
Although the 81-year-old president, currently self-isolating with COVID, remains publicly steadfast, he is privately yielding to the growing pressure, poor poll numbers, and relentless scrutiny, making it untenable for him to continue his campaign, according to these Democrats.
The core message from top party leaders, friends, and major donors is clear: they believe Biden cannot win, cannot shift public perception about his age and mental sharpness, and cannot secure congressional majorities.
Biden is being warned that staying in the race could result in a landslide victory for Trump, potentially erasing Biden’s legacy and diminishing the Democrats’ prospects in November.
The pressure to step aside as a candidate has reached intolerable levels, especially in recent days.
Democrats anticipate that post-Republican National Convention polls will indicate a significant lead for the Republicans, potentially jeopardizing Democratic seats in Congress.
A recent AP poll, showing that nearly two-thirds of Democrats want Biden to exit the presidential race, has sent shockwaves through the White House and Congress.
A coordinated and relentless pressure campaign is targeting Biden. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Biden in Rehoboth Beach, Del., on Saturday — the day of the assassination attempt on Trump — that it would be best if he dropped out, as reported by ABC News. Capitol Hill Democrats want him out, fearing they will lose winnable seats otherwise.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a key figure in the campaign to convince Biden to step down, warned him that he could harm Democrats’ chances of reclaiming the House. She’s also concerned about a potential drop in donations.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) delivered a similar, albeit more subtle, message to Biden.
Former President Obama has been notably silent, with his former aides publicly criticizing Biden.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are following Obama’s lead, along with their former aides.
Increasingly, top Biden aides, including those who initially encouraged him to continue after his disastrous debate on June 27, are now saying it’s a matter of when, not if, Biden will announce he is not running.
Biden cannot be forcibly removed. He has the delegates. No one can physically take them from him. He needs to step down voluntarily and on his own terms.
Biden will likely drop out by Sunday, but the crazy part is Obama and company say it'll help save his legacy. What legacy are they referring to? Do they mean being the worst ever? The most corrupt? Or the only one to steal the Oval Office and not get caught?
