On Sunday, President Biden told supporters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that Philadelphia had always helped him win when he ran for the U.S. Senate. However, Biden was actually a U.S. Senator from Delaware, not Pennsylvania.
“Even when I was running for Senate, each time I ran – quite frankly, not a joke – Philadelphia, in particular, got me across the line,” Biden said, prompting applause. “No, I’m not joking.”
Biden, who was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but moved to Delaware at age 10, did not seem to notice his mistake and continued, “No, I mean it, seriously. Organizationally and in terms of fundraising, the whole deal.”
This gaffe is likely to fuel further criticism from both supporters and opponents who are increasingly vocal about their concerns following Biden’s poor debate performance against Trump.
