The federal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs in Manhattan continues to draw attention as prosecutors present evidence of alleged abuse, coercion, and drug use as it enters its third week.
Former President Barack Obama, Usher, Biggie Smalls, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez were among the high-profile names mentioned in testimony as Diddy’s former assistants, ex-associates, and ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura took the stand during his trial.
Former assistant David James testified that Combs regularly carried various pills, including ecstasy shaped like Obama’s face. James also described Combs’ extensive drug use, including Percocet and Viagra, and his involvement in organizing “Freak Off” parties, where women were allegedly coerced into participating in sexual acts.
Ventura, Combs’ ex-girlfriend, testified that she was subjected to physical abuse and coerced into participating in these parties. She claimed that Combs used threats and blackmail to control her, including recording sexual encounters without her consent. Her mother, Regina Ventura, corroborated these claims, presenting photos of bruises and emails detailing threats.
Former Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard testified that Usher was present at a dinner where Combs allegedly punched Ventura in the stomach. Richard also claimed that Combs threatened her to remain silent about the abuse.
Capricorn Clark, Combs’ former assistant, is expected to provide critical testimony. Clark is anticipated to corroborate claims of violence and coercion, including an incident where Combs allegedly retaliated violently after discovering Ventura’s relationship with rapper Kid Cudi.
Combs faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty, with his defense arguing that the sexual acts were consensual and that accusers are motivated by personal vendettas or financial gain. If convicted, Combs faces 15 years to life in prison.
